FIVE QUICK QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CATERER
Hi there, how soon is your occasion and hope all is in place? Here are 5 quick questions to ask your caterer to ascertain their level of dedication to service and their business in general. You may have gotten a caterer on referral or you got one yourself what matters is to their ability to deliver as briefed.
Now you need to inform your caterer if you are doing a plated or buffet service for your guests. In plated service, guests remain seated and are served by their services chefs and servers, while in buffet service; guests get up and serve themselves from a well stocked catering table with caterers and servers present.
You also need to inform your caterer the date of your event, the venue, the time for arrival and set up and also time for their departure which most often is when all guests must  have departed from venue.
 Questions for your caterer:
Before settling for a caterer, below are the questions you need to ask, when you are satisfied with their service charge.
1. Do you do theme service? This is to know if your caterer can work with the theme for your event e.g romantic set up theme, oldies theme, great Gatsby, Hollywood theme, a typical traditional Nigerian theme etc.
2. Will you be providing the service ware like the breakable plates, glass cups, napkins, napkin rings, charger plates, menu.
3. You need to ask your caterer if they do provide silver service, if that is what you prefer, silver service involves a kind of table setting where we have different types of silver ware on the tables for the guests to dine with e.g different types of spoons and forks for appetisers, main meal, desserts and cocktails if these would be provided at the event.
4. You need to ask your caterer if they can keep to the time of arrival and departure to and fro the venue (you need to put proximity of caterer to the venue into consideration)
5. You need to ask your caterer to give you a detailed information on their plating service, this is for you to know exactly what and what will be on the plate.
